Ariadne

Press START. Always find your way back.

Ariadne is a find-your-way-back app. You leave the hotel, park the car, set off through an unfamiliar town — press START and walk wherever you like. When you want to return, the map shows the path you walked, and a big arrow with the distance says which way and how far.

There is nothing to learn. One START and one I'M HERE; the arrow and the number do the rest, in type you can read at arm's length. Ariadne can also say it out loud — "the place is 200 meters to your left" — after START, when you arrive, and now and then on the way back.

The path is your own thread, the one you walked, so it works with no signal and needs no route planning. Your location is processed on the phone and never sent anywhere. No account, no ads, no tracking.

Neon by night; a black-on-white Day mode for full sun. The app asks for location only "while using the app" and shows a notification whenever it is drawing your path in the background.

For families

What a son or daughter should know.

There is no account and nothing to set up: the app opens on the map and asks once for location, "while using the app" — never "always". Your parent's position and the path they walk are processed on the phone and never sent to us or to anyone; the only thing that leaves the device is the map itself, fetched by Google Maps or Apple Maps for the area around them. While a walk is on, a notification says so. No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics.

Ariadne is made by Neon Labs, a tiny independent studio making simple, ad-free games — and, now and then, something that is not a game. The same promise on everything we ship.
